The overall recovery accelerated the manufacturing PMI back into expansion territory in June

Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 30 showed that the manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) in June was 50.2%, up 0.6 percentage points from the previous month and back to the critical point, indicating that the manufacturing sector has resumed expansion.

“As the domestic epidemic prevention and control situation continues to improve, and a package of policies and measures to stabilize the economy are taking effect at a faster pace, the overall recovery of the Chinese economy has been accelerated.”  The manufacturing PMI rebounded to 50.2 percent in June, returning to expansion after contracting for three consecutive months, said Zhao Qinghe, a senior statistician at the Service Sector Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics.  The PMI for 13 of the 21 industries surveyed is in expansionary territory, as manufacturing sentiment continues to expand and positive factors continue to accumulate.

As the resumption of work and production continued, enterprises accelerated the release of previously suppressed production and demand. The production index and new order index were 52.8% and 50.4% respectively, higher than 3.1 and 2.2 percentage points in the previous month, and both reached the expansion range.  In terms of industry, the two indexes of automobile, general equipment, special equipment and computer communication and electronic equipment were all higher than 54.0%, and the recovery of production and demand was faster than that of the manufacturing industry as a whole.

At the same time, the policies and measures to ensure the smooth delivery of logistics were effective. The supplier delivery time index was 51.3%, 7.2 percentage points higher than last month. The supplier delivery time was significantly faster than last month, effectively ensuring the production and operation of enterprises.
